Job Description:

Scope of Position
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for accepting clothing donations and caring for customer needs. This person will provide exemplary customer service by asking the customer questions to determine their needs and engaging the customer with their knowledge, tracking clientele, completing monthly reporting tools and recommending additional items that will compliment the customers’ employment goals. He/she will handle store merchandising, stocking and maintenance activities. The person will assist the store in achieving monthly service goals. He/she will perform related work as required. This position reports to the Operations Manager

Essential Functions
• Greet customers and determine their wants and needs
• Discuss quality, type and number of merchandise required for a particular industry
• Recommend merchandise based on the individual’s employment goals
• Advise customers on care and utilization of merchandise
• Refer clients to partner agencies upon request
• Answer customers’ questions satisfactorily
• Assist in tagging and displaying merchandise
• Provide guidance and leadership to all volunteers
• Direct customers by escorting them to counters and racks, as well as suggesting items
• Advice customers on suitable goods depending on employment goals
• Assist customers in making selection from the diverse range of products available
• Build customer confidence by offering them suggestions and opinions
• Document donations by creating and updating customer profile records
• Report problems and discrepancies to the supervisor
• Give guidance and advice to customers on product selection
• Provide monthly outreach to local agencies explaining store services and referral process
• Assist customers with any questions or concerns they have
• Attach price tags to items in donations area
• Share reporting information with appropriate staff and/or functional teams
• Contribute in securing positive outcomes and attaining specific program goals
• Achieve weekly and quarterly outreach targets
• Track progress and prepare weekly project reports as required

Experience and Skills:

• Customer service experience
• Exceptional phone etiquette skills
• Experience with data collection
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills
• Consistent follow-through when corresponding with employers, program participants, job seekers and team members
