Job Description:

We are seeking compassionate and team-oriented individuals to join our spirited team. As Career Navigator, you will provide administrative support to the staff and participants, while directing participants to appropriate next steps to enhance their employability and skills.  


Successful Elements:

  • Answer telephones, greet and assist participants, manage calendar and perform other general office duties

  • Assess reason for participant visit and provide resources and next steps, including directing to the appropriate team member
  • Conduct resume assessments to determine next steps
  • Work with participants to co-create service plans and schedule follow-up appointments that work around internship/community service opportunities
  • Communicate with Job Club Coordinator to ensure he/she is addressing any noticeable employment barriers prior to interview opportunities
  • Understand and access a variety of community resources and partners for participants requiring additional services
  • Maintain knowledge of employment opportunities and training programs to make accurate assessments and referrals to next steps
  • Discuss short-term and long-term employment goals with the participant to determine next steps using industry-specific assessment tools
  • Discuss participant’s current schedules for education, work experience or community service experience, child care, transportation and supportive services
  • Provide career guidance and support to participants
  • Complete data entry
  • Coordinate alternate engagements, training opportunities and job placement
  • Communicate with employed participants to adjust to the demands of the workplace and discuss achievements. This includes developing problem-solving strategies to ensure they succeed in a new workplace environment.
  • Provide retention services that include at a minimum, monthly check-ins with participates who have obtained employment

Experience and Skills:

Required Experience:

  • Experienced in answering telephones in a courteous, efficient and professional manner
  • Experienced in handling high volume client traffic
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of various types of office equipment
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Previous office experience

 Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
